How large is the preclinical imaging market?

The market size of preclinical imaging in 2027 is calculated to be USD 1.15 billion.

What is the expected industry size of preclinical imaging by 2036?

Preclinical Imaging Market size was assessed at USD 1.1 billion in 2026 and is poised to grow at a 5.32% CAGR between 2027 and 2036, reaching USD 1.85 billion by 2036.

How are rising drug development investments influencing adoption of advanced non-invasive imaging modalities in preclinical research?

Increasing drug development activity is driving adoption of non-invasive imaging such as micro-CT, MRI, PET, and SPECT. These tools enable repeated in vivo assessments, improve data continuity, and support faster go/no-go decisions while reducing attrition risk in complex therapeutic pipelines.

Why are translational research programs increasing reliance on longitudinal preclinical imaging studies?

Translational programs prioritize tracking biological change over time, making longitudinal imaging essential. These studies support disease progression mapping, biomarker validation, and clinically relevant models, encouraging investment in systems that enable repeated measurements and standardized multimodal research workflows.

Why is Research and Development the largest application segment in the preclinical imaging market?

Research and Development leads because preclinical imaging is routinely used across exploratory biology, disease modeling, and therapy assessment, supporting repeated non-invasive observation throughout multiple stages of preclinical research.

Which end-use segment is growing the fastest in the preclinical imaging market?

Pharma and biotech companies are the fastest-growing end-use segment because continuous drug development activities create ongoing demand for imaging to evaluate mechanisms, monitor responses, and support compound selection.

What factors make North America the largest preclinical imaging market?

North America accounted for 49.21% of the market in 2026, supported by strong pharmaceutical research, advanced imaging infrastructure, established academic networks, and consistent investment in preclinical research technologies.

How is Europe driving growth in the preclinical imaging market?

Europe is expected to grow at a 5.13% CAGR as biomedical research investment, wider multimodal imaging adoption, and demand for more precise, non-invasive preclinical evaluation strengthen regional equipment and software demand.

Who holds a significant market share in the preclinical imaging landscape?

Major companies in the preclinical imaging market include Bruker Corporation (United States), Siemens Healthineers AG (Germany), Revvity, Inc. (United States), FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation (Japan), Mediso Ltd. (Hungary), MR Solutions Ltd. (United Kingdom), Aspect Imaging Ltd. (Israel), MILabs B.V. (Netherlands), TriFoil Imaging, Inc.
